Buffalo Bills’ Coaching

I’m cheating a little and instead of picking a player that needs to improve, I’m going to rag on the coaching staff for a little. There is no denying this was one of the worst coaching efforts by McDermott and Daboll in quite some time. Leslie Frazier and the defense played lights-out the first half of the game, and what should have been good enough in the second half. I don’t put any blame on the defense as they only allowed 16 points to the Pittsburgh Steelers (the other seven came from special teams).

Coach McDermott faced fourth down numerous times, electing to punt four times and attempting to go for it on fourth down twice. The one head-scratching play from Brian Daboll came on a fourth and one on Pittsburgh’s 41-yard line, and Josh Allen faked a handoff, then threw a pass to Matt Breida on the left side for a loss of seven yards. I have no problem with the Bills taking chances on trick plays, but when Josh Allen has been very successful his entire career at quarterback sneaks over the middle, and you only need one yard, that seems like an easy choice in plays.

Must Read. 3 horrible stats that defined the Bills in Week 1. light

The Buffalo Bills are in good hands with the coaching staff they have assembled and I have no doubt they will rebound after the showing in Week 1. If anyone can learn from their mistakes and right the ship, it is Sean McDermott and his staff. They won’t have an easy task in Week 2, but it is a good test for a good team.
