Get pressure on Ben Roethlisberger

The Buffalo Bills made it a point to improve the pass rush this offseason and based on the preseason it appears they have done that. First round pick Greg Rousseau has looked great in the preseason with two sacks in three games, A.J. Epenesa was getting consistent pressure while Boogie Basham and Efe Obada showed at times they can win their matchups.

This week, the Bills defensive ends have a great chance to start the year off strong considering the inexperience the Steelers have on their offensive line. However, even if the defensive ends win here, it may not result in sacks.

In the same press conference, Leslie Frazier talked about how sacks may not be a great indicator of success because of how quickly Roethlisberger gets the ball out of his hand. The Bills defense coordinator says pressures may be just as good as a sack.

At this point in his career, Roethlisberger doesn’t have the mobility that he did earlier in the season but has been able to account for that by getting the ball out quicker. If the Bills pass rushers can speed the internal clock up or limit the time he has in the pocket, they should be able to disrupt the passing game just enough to make an impact.
