Running Back (5)

Starter: Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, Reggie Gilliam (FB)

Backup: Matt Breida, Taiwan Jones

Cut: Antonio Williams, Kerrith Whyte, Christian Wade

Devin Singletary and Zack Moss have both looked fantastic this preseason and look to split carries in some sort of committee. Matt Breida looks like he could be a part of the offense because of the speed he brings which both Singletary and Moss lack.

After the game against the Bears, Reggie Gilliam seems like a lock for this roster. He has been used by Daboll as a fullback, running back, H-Back, and tight End in this preseason and last year. That type of versatility is exactly how to make a team that has such a diverse offense. In addition to that, Gilliam is a quality special teams player which we know Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott love to have on their roster. Especially for players who are not the every-down type of players.

Taiwan Jones is right on the edge of the roster. Not necessarily because the running backs behind him are pushing for his spot but because the Buffalo Bills could opt to cut him to keep extra players at a different position. Jones has been a very quality gunner and special teams player. He is replaceable but also a notable veteran on the roster. I think Jones just makes it on the roster but he will have to perform every week to stay on all season.

We also often see Brandon Beane cut some veterans to get some players onto IR so they can return in the season. If Beane has to do that this season. Expect Jones to be a cut candidate who may immediately resign.

Antonio Williams has disappointed this training camp after a strong performance in his lone appearance last season and Chrisitan Wade is a roster exempt player through the International Player Pathway Program and has been injured. Kerrith Whyte is an intriguing signing because of his ability to return kicks which is something may need after the injuries to Isaiah McKenzie and Marquez Stevenson. All three are pretty certainly not going to make the roster but all could be in contention for the practice squad.
