Buffalo Bills: 53-man roster prediction before second preseason game

Tre’Davious White, Levi Wallace, Taron Johnson, Siran Neal, Dane Jackson

Cut: Cam Lewis, Rachad Wildgoose, Olaijah Griffin, Nick McCloud

Not much has changed in the cornerback room in Buffalo over the years. Instead of bringing in a veteran to compete with Wallace, the Bills allowed second-year corner Dane Jackson to push for the starting job. Just like usual Wallace has not looked like a star but has proved that he is the better option and should start across White. Johnson takes the nickel spot and Neal who is a fantastic special teams player will continue to develop playing both nickel and outside corner.

Buffalo may keep the sixth corner but none of the other players in camp have made enough noise to be considered for a roster spot. While some could make the practice squad I would predict Buffalo signs or trades for another corner if they add to this group of five.

One name to watch would be Cam Lewis. Lewis showed some serious potential last season in camp and filling in for Taron Johnson until he was injured for the year. While Johnson has been shaky in coverage in the past his two pick 6’s last season showed his improvement throughout the year. Lewis has been around Buffalo for a while and although he may not make the roster he could be a practice squad player who is called up for a couple of games or stashed in case of injury.

Wildgoose, Griffin, and McCloud are all young and have shown promise either in camp or against the Lions. Some combination of those players will likely end up on the practice squad. Wildgoose has a decent shot to make the practice squad because Buffalo spent a late-round draft pick on him and he is capable of playing both inside and outside at corner.
