Number 3: Tremaine Edmunds

Cap Hit: $4,028,037

Rank among inside linebackers: 21st

Of the five players on this list, Tremaine Edmunds is the only one on a rookie deal and for the good players, it can happen pretty early on that they will outperform their cap hit. This is the case for Edmunds as he enters his fourth season and has a cap hit that ranks 21st at his position.

However, he has already made two Pro Bowls in the early part of his career and will be entering the year as the team’s starting middle linebacker. He is a player that has proven to be fairly durable and someone who rarely leaves the field.

In his first two seasons, he played more than 90% of the defensive snaps but that percentage did drop to 85% this past season. However, this was due to missing the second half of Week 1 and Week 2 due to injury and then sitting out the second half of the regular season finale.

While there are some questions about just how good Tremaine Edmunds is, there is no question that he is absolutely a Top 20 inside linebacker. Based on that, he should outperform his cap hit this year.
