Buffalo Bills: Predicting the RB depth chart entering training camp
Fourth String: Taiwan Jones
Of the six running backs on the depth chart, Taiwan Jones probably is the most secure in terms of his role with the Buffalo Bills. While he is listed as a running back and did see a few snaps last year at the position, he makes most of his impact on special teams.
He returned to the Bills last offseason and played 47% of the special teams snaps. He should be a key contributor again this season on special teams.
Fifth String: Antonio Williams
If Matt Breida were to be cut before the start of the season it would likely be to create space on the roster for this running back. Antonio Williams was signed as an undrafted free agent last year and spent most of the season on the practice squad.
He got a chance to play in the regular season finale and had over 60 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the final two quarters against the Miami Dolphins. If he continues to play well during training camp and preseason, the coaching staff will have a tough decision when they begin cutting the roster down.
Sixth String: Christian Wade
Christian Wade is a fan favorite after a memorable performance in the preseason in 2019. However, with the preseason being canceled last year and him spending the entire season on the practice squad with the exemption created due to the fact that he is part of the International Player Pathway Program, fans aren’t sure how much he has improved over the past two seasons.
The Bills are eligible to use the exemption one more year on Christian Wade by adding him to the practice squad and this is probably the most likely situation for him this season.
