Best Buffalo Bills player to wear #15: Jack Kemp, Quarterback

. Occidental. Jack Kemp. 16. . Quarterback. 15. player

Jack Kemp is etched into Buffalo Bills lore as he and Daryle Lamonica are the only two QB’s to have won a championship ring with the team. The 1964 and 1965 seasons were the championship years in the original AFL, beating the San Diego Chargers both times. Kemp was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 17th round of the 1957 NFL draft. He would never appear in a game for them- instead, he was heading to Pittsburgh where he’d hardly got any playing time. When he joined Buffalo in 1962, he finally found a home and helped deliver some hardware.

With a 41-31-3 record that saw Kemp throw for over 15,000 yards and 77 touchdowns in his seven-year career with the team, Kemp retired after the 1969 season and went into politics. For a while, Kemp was known to hold the  NFL record as the quarterback who got sacked 11 times in one game. Kemp would probably like to thank Derrick Thomas and the Chiefs for changing that against Warren Moon.
