Buffalo Bills officially sign Gregory Rosseau

Gregory Rousseau has officially become one with the herd.

Gregory Rousseau, the team’s first-round draft pick out of the University of Miami has officially signed his first contract in the NFL. It is a 4-year deal worth roughly $11M. Rousseau was the last remaining draft pick to sign with the team after the rest of the Buffalo Bills 2021 draft selections were taken care of in May.

This year’s salary for Rousseau is $660K, which is only 0.4% of the cap. With an average of just about 2.9M per year, it’s a very team-friendly contract. However, for a first-round draft pick, this is a pretty low contract that Rousseau is set to make even with the rookie salary cap.

Now of course it goes with the rookie salary cap limit and pool, but Rousseau is set to make roughly the same amount of money as Noah Igbinoghene of the Miami Dolphins who didn’t see the field a whole lot. Personally, I think Rousseau is a better player, and when the time comes the Bills will no doubt hope to have seen Rousseau produce and reward him with a great contract extension

In the division where the Buffalo Bills definitely have the best quarterback in the division, getting off the field and creating opportunities for Josh Allen and company will be crucial to getting over the hump and to the Super Bowl. Gregory Rousseau along with the entire defense is going to be trusted with this monumental task. But an easier than normal schedule will work in their favor.

How will the season play out is anyone’s guess.  With all of the paperwork signed, seeing the Bills go to work will be exciting in 2021.
