Zack Ertz

The connection between the Buffalo Bills and Zack Ertz has been seemingly going on all offseason. It was certainly a logical connection to make as the Bills were looking to upgrade the tight end position and Zach Ertz was not happy in Philadelphia and the Eagles granted him permission to seek out a trade.

However, a trade never took place but the Eagles may not have more incentive to trade him or even release him with the cap savings. According to Spotrac, if Ertz was traded or released before June 1st, it would have resulted in about $4.9 million in cap savings. However, that number jumps to $8.5 million in cap savings this year if one of those two scenarios takes place.

For the Buffalo Bills, they likely would only be interested in Ertz if he were to be released. He currently is expected to have a cap hit of $12.7 million which would be tough to fit into their current cap situation. However, if he were to be released, general manager Brandon Beane will likely try his best to bring the former Pro Bowl tight end to Western New York.
