The Atlanta Falcons are trying to trade Julio Jones. The Buffalo Bills could act.

Per Jeff Schultz of The Athletic, the Atlanta Falcons are trying to trade Julio Jones. This is rather surprising after the team selected TE Kyle Pitts with the 4th overall selection, making him the highest-drafted TE in NFL history. Jones was the player that GM Thomas Dimitroff traded the farm for in 2011.

Now I know what you may be thinking. The fact that the Buffalo Bills already have Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley, and Josh Allen was one of the top QB’s in the league last season on the way to an AFC Championship appearance. However, after the team released John Brown (who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders) there is a void at the third wide receiver spot. Gabriel Davis is still way too young to decide on if he’s ready for a big role in the offense. (NOTE: The story is linked in the tweet below, behind a paywall.)

There are still pressing needs at running back, but you can never have enough pass-catchers in today’s NFL. And with an extra game on the schedule, depth at both positions will be of high importance.

So why not look into a hypothetical trade for Jones?

While the Buffalo Bills most likely wouldn’t offer a first-round pick in this situation, giving three picks can be attractive still to a team that may (or may not?) be rebuilding. If the Falcons are indeed rebuilding, then having a bevy of extra picks to try and trade up for a higher spot or a certain player are reasons why I believe this trade could go through.

With Jones on the team, the Buffalo Bills would be the first team since the 2008 Arizona Cardinals to have three 1,000 yard receivers in a season. Once again 17 game season should have that happen more often, but it’s only happened five times for a reason.

Trending. Honey Badger would be welcomed in Buffalo next season. light

Jones would give Buffalo’s offense its best-ever chance to win a Lombardi since the 1990s. It’s something that definitely needs to be considered for Brandon Beane.
