Left Guard

Cody Ford vs. Forrest Lamp vs. Ike Boettger

The left guard position is one that seemingly is the most up for grabs as it has the most players that realistically could win the starting job. At the top is Cody Ford, who was a second round pick by the Bills in 2019 and started at right tackle as a rookie.

However, this past season he moved inside to guard due to the performance of Daryl Williams at right tackle. He played both right and left guard before his season was cut short due to a knee injury. At this time, if there was a favorite for the job it would likely be Ford.

The one player that could be his biggest competition is Forrest Lamp, who the Bills signed as a free agent. He was a second round pick by the Chargers in 2017 and was considered one of the best offensive linemen in that draft class. However, he has dealt with injuries early in his career before finally playing a full 16-game schedule this past season.

It also wouldn’t be fair to not mention Ike Boettger, who was the team’s starting left guard after Ford’s injury. This was also a time where the offensive line really came together and was playing some of their best football. He should also be in the discussion when training camp starts.
