Safety

Players to Watch: Hamsah Nasirildeen, James Wiggins

The safety position is one that the Buffalo Bills may wait until Day 3 to address but if they feel there is good value and a player falls that fits what they need, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them use a third round pick.

One of those players is Hamsah Nasirildeen out of Florida State who could be a versatile chess piece for the Buffalo Bills. The defense utilizes a great deal of nickel formation and while there is advantages, it does mean they are typically playing with a smaller personnel with five defensive backs and two linebackers.

However, a player like Nasirildeen could step in as a bigger nickel that minimizes some of that weakness. He is a player that can support against the run as well as drop back into coverage against tight ends.

The Buffalo Bills could also be looking to add depth behind Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde with the departure of Dean Marlowe. If this is the case, then a player like James Wiggins could be a good player for this defense as he is a safety that can play either role as a strong safety or free safety.

dark. Next. 3 positions the Bills should avoid until Day 3

The Buffalo Bills don’t necessarily have defined roles in this regard for Poyer and Hyde so a third safety that can step in at either position would be a good fit.
