In a similar mold to how I spoke about the last draft pick in this mock draft, this next 5th round pick will also be made based on how easy it will be for the prospect to make the roster. After re-signing Jon Felciano and tendering Ike Boettger, it would seem that the Buffalo Bills are set on the interior of their offensive line, but that just isn’t true.

The Bills and Felciano agreed to terms on a glorified one year deal. There are three years on the contract, but there is a very clear and obvious out for the Buffalo Bills to take after 2021 if they don’t want to retain him. Similarly, Boettger is good depth on the interior because he can play both left and right guard or center in a pinch, but he is only under contract for 2021.

Given the circumstances listed above and the jury still out on if Cody Ford is a bust or not, the Buffalo Bills need to add competition to the interior offensive line. For these reasons and more I selected Sadarius Hutcherson from South Carolina with the 174th overall pick.

At about 6’2″ and 320 pounds, Hutcherson is surprisingly athletic for his size, evidently shown by his testing scores at South Carolina’s Pro Day. According to Kent Lee Platte, Hutcherson scored a 9.76 out of a possible 10 points on his relative athletic score (RAS), based on his testing results relative to others at his position.

Additionally, the Buffalo Bills are still without a backup swing tackle and Hutcherson has experience playing both guard and tackle during his time at South Carolina. That positional versatility could be a very valuable and attractive trait to the Bills come draft time.
