As most fans know, the Buffalo Bills have two 5th round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, but these picks have to be strategic because it’s going to be tough for them to make the roster. That is why I decided to target the tight end position.

With the 161st pick in this mock draft, I selected Tony Poljan, the tight end from Virginia. Some fans might be turned off by this pick after learning that Poljan is also a former quarterback, similar to Dawson Knox. However, after trading Lee Smith to the Atlanta Falcons, the Buffalo Bills will likely add another tight end to the position room in the 2021 NFL Draft.

At 6’7″ and 265 pounds, Poljan has the size and blocking acumen to come in and fill the void that Lee Smith left at the position. After signing Jacob Hollister, the Buffalo Bills tight end room is top heavy with receiving threats. This isn’t to say that Knox and others on the roster can’t improve in this area, but Poljan has a higher floor as a blocker with the upside to become a receiving matchup threat with his size.

The Bills are optimistic that Tommy Sweeney will be able to play in 2021, but if he can’t, Poljan can replace him. Even with Sweeney in 2021, the tight end position might be one of the easier positions that a draft pick could find an avenue onto the 53 man roster for the Bills in 2021.
