At 5’9 and 165 pounds, Chatarius or “Tutu” Atwell was an electrifying pass catcher for the Louisville Cardinals. In his three years as a Cardinal, he really broke out in the 2019 season, if it wasn’t for the pandemic he might have had a similar year in 2020.

In 2019, Atwell earned 1,272 receiving yards and had 11 touchdowns on 69 receptions. He also added 9 rushes for 33 yards in that season. Similar to most of the prospects to make this list, Atwell also provides value as a returner. With that being said, Atwell is probably the least adept returner on this list of prospects to replace Isaiah McKenzie, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be considered a candidate.

Atwell is very similar to McKenzie in terms of offensive production, operating primarily out of the slot and out of pre-snap motions. To some teams, it could be concerning that a lot of Atwell’s receptions came behind the line of scrimmage, but that is exactly the kind of area that the Bills are trying to find production. Atwell is someone who can create yards for himself on jet sweeps or screens behind the line of scrimmage.

Atwell’s size and lack of refined route running could be a concern for him taking the next step into the NFL. However, the sky is the limit in terms of his potential as he still has plenty of development ahead of him that could help him blossom into a deep threat on top of the yards after the catch threat he already possesses. Atwell is another prospect that could slide into day three of the draft, where the Bills could find good value in selecting him.
