Round 6 – 214th Overall

Tight End Tre’ McKitty – Georgia

Past the fifth round, I’m typically looking for players that will round out depth in particular position groups. Without a running back that interests me still on the board, I decided to take a look at tight ends. I know I said that I expect the Bills to sign a veteran tight end in free agency to supplement the room, but there would still be some questions about depth at the position even with that hypothetical addition.

Most of this derives from this past pre-season when Tommy Sweeney had some unfortunate heart complications after getting covid and it is uncertain whether or not he will be able to play for the Bills in 2021. I hope he can get healthy enough to return to the team because he showed some promise with the limited opportunities he had. Bills Mafia should support Sweeney regardless of the decision he decides to make with his future because at the end of the day health is most important.

This brings me to the sixth round pick of this mock draft, where I decided to select tight end Tre’ McKitty from Georgia to round out depth at the position. McKitty actually transferred from Florida State to play for the Gerogia Bulldogs in 2020. However, McKitty has been underutilized from a pass-catching perspective his entire collegiate career. With that being said, because he was underutilized as a receiver it has given him plenty of collegiate reps as a blocker.

At 6’5 and 245 pounds, McKitty has a solid floor as a blocker and plenty of receiving upside moving forward. He would be a good depth addition to the tight end position for the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round.
