Buffalo Bills: 7-round mock draft before start of free agency

Round 5 – 175th Overall

Wide Reciever D’Wayne Eskridge – Western Michigan

The fifth round is when I personally begin looking for weapons to add to this already stacked Buffalo Bills offense. Specifically, the is the area of the draft I like to find a prospect to replace both Andre Roberts and Isaiah McKenzie.

At 175th overall, I selected D’Wayne Eskridge from Western Michigan to hopefully fill both those roles on the Buffalo Bills in one cheap rookie contract. At 5’9 and 190, Eskridge is a natural playmaker with the ball in his hands. He is a threat to score every time he touches the football, on little tunnel screens, and in the return game.

Playing at Western Michigan, Eskridge played against some lower-level competition enabling him to win on routes using his natural athleticism rather than true route savvy. Although his collegiate competition will be the knock against Eskridge coming into the draft, he surely quieted that narrative with his performance during the week at the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

His skillset has the versatility to potentially fill four roles on the Buffalo Bills looking ahead to the future. As mentioned before, he could replace both McKenzie and Roberts in their roles, but he could also be the heir apparent to Cole Beasley in the slot and perhaps the deep threat replacement for John Brown.

From a roster construction and salary cap management perspective, Eskridge could be an extremely valuable addition to the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round.
