Cam Newton

If there is a former Carolina Panthers player available in free agency, he will likely be a target for Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills. The former first overall pick is coming off a down year with the New England Patriots and at this point in his career may be limited to backup opportunities.

This is why the Buffalo Bills could make sense for Cam Newton. He knows the coaching staff well from his time with the Panthers with Sean McDermott but also Ken Dorsey, who is the current QB coach of the Bills. He served in the same role with the Panthers from 2013 to 2017, which included 2015 when Newton won the MVP award.

The reason adding Cam Newton would make sense is that there aren’t many quarterbacks who have the scrambling ability that Josh Allen possesses. The biggest question the coaching staff would need to answer is about Newton as a passer. This past season with the Patriots, Newton looked off and wildly inaccurate. If the Buffalo Bills feel this is something that can be corrected, then this would make sense.
