Buffalo Bills: Stock Report after Week 9 win over Seahawks

One player that has been asked to step into the starting lineup, at a moment’s notice and has done a good job, is guard Ike Boettger. He was an undrafted free agent signing by the Bills in 2018 and spent most of 2018 and all of 2019 on the Buffalo Bills practice squad.

He made the 53-man active roster to start the 2020 season but wasn’t expected to see much playing time with the depth they had. However, after the Bills released Quinton Spain and then had Cody Ford suffer an injury that opened the door for his first career start in Week 7.

Then in Week 8, he returned to the bench with the return of Jon Feliciano but ended up playing 83% of the team’s offensive snaps after Feliciano shifted to center in place of Mitch Morse. This past week, Boettger returned to the bench but it wasn’t for long as Cody Ford suffered another injury and Boettger would play 79% of the snaps.

While the Buffalo Bills offensive line did struggle a bit to protect Josh Allen, Ike Boettger deserves credit for being able to play at the level he has moved from reserve to starter on a weekly basis during the course of the game.
