Talent at tight end

As tight ends become more and more critical for success in today’s NFL, the Buffalo Bills tapped into theirs multiple times to help secure the victory.

With the injury to Dawson Knox, who had been placed into the NFL’s concussion protocol, the Bills were left with Tyler Kroft, Reggie Gilliam and Lee Smith at the position against a formidable Rams front. The two of them were an immediate factor when plugged into the Bills offense as the two of them combined for three touchdowns on just 25 yards on the day. In their addition to the passing game, they were also efficient in the run-block game as Devin Singletary had the biggest day of his 2020 season, rushing for 71 yards on the day.

With their success coming in such critical moments of the matchup, it will be interesting to see how the position will be utilized in the coming weeks. With Knox’s ability to catch the ball being a week-to-week thing, placing Kroft into red zone and goal-line packages add some more potency to an already efficient offense. We have seen how important a tight end can be when utilized properly like the San Fransico 49ers do with George Kittle, the Kansas City Chiefs do with Travis Kelce and many more.
