Third quarter struggles
In what fans hoped was just a fluke in Week 1 against the Jets in regards to the lack of second-half scoring, those concerns grew even greater this week against the Dolphins.
For the second time in as many games, the Bills came out at the half looking notably different.
During the first quarter, the Bills offense looked reminiscent of last week when Josh Allen finished with over 300 passing yards. Allen came out at the beginning of the game with the same vigor he did against the Jets secondary. Airing the ball out for over 200 yards in the first half, this game seemed to be in Buffalo’s favor.
That all changed after a lighting delay a minute into the second half gave the Miami Dolphins a spark.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the Dolphins had fought back to claim a 20-17 lead, outscoring the Bills 10-0.
With back-to-back cases of the Bills leaving their first-half play in the locker room at the half, it would be a lie to say that this pattern is not concerning. Though both of these games were against very beatable opponents where they were ultimately able to come out on top mostly due to the play of Josh Allen, they might not be able to do that against their next opponents in the LA Rams.
