Buffalo Bills: 3 takeaways from Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins
Concerns in the Buffalo Bills secondary
With the injuries to starting linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano, it was expected that the Dolphins would attack the middle of the field. That is exactly what they did.
At the beginning of the game Dolphins quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick wasted no time attacking the linebackers in the middle of the field. Though Tyrel Dodson held his own as ‘quarterback’ of the defense filling in for Edmunds, A.J. Klein and Levi Wallace both struggled in coverage.
For Klein, he struggled to contain Dolphins tight end, Mike Gesicki who was extremely effective for the Dolphins recording over 100 yards on the day and a last-minute touchdown. For Wallace, he was thrown at over 13 times and gave up over 100 yards on the day and struggled to cover Devante Parker, who was not nearly at 100%.
This can be seen as good news and bad news for the Bills. The good news is that this play of the secondary may put pressure on the organization to lock up Matt Milano who is arguably one of the best cover-backs in the league. That bad news is there has not been a lot of news on Milano’s injury and if he will be able to play next week.
