Are the Buffalo Bills heading towards a running back by committee?

When the Buffalo Bills drafted Zack Moss in the third round, he was undoubtedly going to be a part of this offense. He is more of a between the tackles, pound the rock type back to compliment the shifty, elusiveness that Devin Singletary brings to this offense.

However, over the course of the past week it appears that both running backs bring more to the table. This would allow the coaching staff to put either back out there with almost the entire playbook at their disposal.

While Moss is expected to be that bruiser, he also is an effective pass catcher that has good hands. This video captured by Jon Scott of Spectrum News shows the rookie pulling in a pass over the shoulder from Josh Allen.

As for Devin Singletary, he was an effective weapon out of the backfield as a rookie with 28 receptions but according to Sal Capaccio of WGR500, he has looked much better running routes this camp.

"I’ve been really impressed with Singletary’s route running. We’ve all seen what Singletary can do with the ball in his hands, but he looks just as elusive and shifty while not carrying it and going out for passes. I think he was a decent route-runner last season, but it looks like it’s an area he really concentrated on this off-season"

If both backs continue to be threats out of the backfield as pass catchers, this is backfield could end up being more of a 50/50 split than some expected this coming season.
