Buffalo Bills: Highlights from practice at Bills Stadium
These are some of the top highlights from Buffalo Bills practice a Bills Stadium on Thursday.
On the same day that the Buffalo Bills announced they would use the name Bills Stadium moving forward, they held their first practice of 2020 in the stadium. There was certainly no shortage of highlights from Thursday’s practice.
Duke Williams with another highlight reel catch
Earlier this week, Duke Williams had one of the highlights from practice as he went over the top of the cornerback to bring in a catch. On Thursday, he went low as he brought in an off-target pass from rookie Jake Fromm between two defenders with one hand.
The moves the team made this offseason, Duke Williams seemed to be a bit of an afterthought at the position. However, if he continues to make moves like this the Buffalo Bills may be forced to find a way to keep him on the roster.
Gabriel Davis has size but also has speed
At the NFL Combine, Bills: Embedded caught a clip of Brandon Beane talking about Gabriel Davis and hoping he didn’t run his 40-yard dash too fast in fear that he would move up team’s boards. He got his wish and the Bills got their pass catcher.
During practice on Thursday, Davis showed that 40 time didn’t mean much as he took a simple slant against Tre’Davious White and out ran everybody.
The Buffalo Bills rookie wide receivers, Davis as well as sixth round pick Isaiah Hodgins, have gotten off to a great start during camp. While their opportunities may be limited their rookie season, the initial reviews are positive and should be key parts for the foreseeable future.
A.J. Epenesa shows his power
While most highlights during these practices are going to be the offensive player, second round draft pick A.J. Epenesa made his presence known during drills on Thursday. He was lined up against recent addition Brian Winters and got the better of the veteran guard.
Epenesa coming out of college was one of the more technically sound defensive ends in this NFL Draft and he showed it on this highlight. The hand placement he gets helps him get leverage on Winters and allow him to push him back and finish the drill.
While Epenesa may not be a starter Week 1, he is going to be a key part of this rotation this coming season for the Buffalo Bills.
