Mike Filer- Center

There are few offensive linemen that have the ability to bring both youth and experience to the position. For the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, center, Mike Filer has been steering that ship of the Ticats offense for the better part of eight years now.

After going undrafted coming out of Mount Allison where he was named an AUS all-star and CIS second-team All-Canadian in 2010, Filer joined his home-town Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In his first season, he appeared in just four games, but the following season would see him start at center and would remain there.

One main reason why Filer would be a viable option at the center position to back up Mitch Morse is due to the experience he has protecting mobile quarterbacks. Through his years with the Ticats, Filer has built and maintained pockets for former Oregon products in Jeremiah Masoli and Vernon Adams, along with former Cleveland Brown, Johnny Manziel.

In addition to his experience, the CFL game is now more than ever similar to the NFL game with teams using nearly all three downs to pass the ball. This means that Filer has a plethora of snaps fighting off defensive lineman with his 6’2″, 290 ound frame.

Due to his presence on the line, Hamilton finished the 2019 season leading the league in yards per game with 393.7, points per game with 26.1 and only gave up 37 sacks on the season.

Filer provides the Bills with a lot of upsides and due to the fact that he would be coming into the NFL from the CFL, he would be extremely affordable and cap friendly for the Bills in 2020.
