Another player that is often overlooked and usually doesn’t get attention until they make a mistake is the long snapper. Fortunately for the Buffalo Bills, they have one of the best in the NFL.

Reid Ferguson joined the Buffalo Bills in 2016 as an undrafted free agent and after being waived, was added to the practice squad midway through the season. He was signed in 2017 and has been the team’s starting long snapper ever since. The Bills were able to reach a three-year contract extension last year that will keep him with the franchise through the 2021 season.

The long snapper is one of those positions that most fans won’t know who the player is until they mess up a snap, either on a field goal attempt or a punt. This is one of the reasons some may overlook Reid Ferguson because he doesn’t mess up a snap.

In 2019, according to Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News, Ferguson didn’t have a single errant snap. The only potential blemish was a field goal attempt against the Dallas Cowboys that was slightly high.

"He did not have an errant snap in 2019. He had just one snap that was slightly off – a little high – on a field-goal try in Dallas, which Stephen Hauschka made."

This is truly remarkable and when you have someone as consistent as Reid Ferguson, especially on scoring plays, this is a big advantage for the Buffalo Bills.
