Darryl Johnson

The last player on this list was actually a seventh round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills last year. While defensive end Darryl Johnson showed some flashes as a pass rusher, he still has a lot to develop and the additional pieces the Bills added at the position doesn’t afford them a roster spot to let Johnson develop on the regular season roster.

To start the season, Johnson was a key part of the rotation for the Bills and was regularly playing over 25% of the snaps. However, starting Week 9 he saw almost no playing time (19 snaps from Week 9 to Week 16) and was taken out of the rotation.

Fast forward, the Bills lost Shaq Lawson in free agency but added Mario Addison and A.J. Epenesa. This will give them four ends to rotate with Jerry Hughes and Trent Murphy leaving almost no snaps for Johnson.

The one path Johnson likely has to making the regular season roster is if the team does elect to cut Trent Murphy. However, it would make sense they keep the veteran this season and try to stash Darryl Johnson on the practice squad.
