The Buffalo Bills added two players to the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday.
The beginning of training camp has kicked off for the Buffalo Bills and these first few days are only going to consist of testing as they try to ramp up to strength and conditioning sessions and eventually padded practices.
On Wednesday the Buffalo Bills announced that two players, defensive tackle Vincent Taylor and wide receiver Duke Williams, were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. This list does not necessarily mean that these players tested positive but could have recently been exposed to someone who tested positive for the virus.
There is no mandatory timeframe given for how long players have to remain on this list and an ESPN report states, “Players may be activated from the list when they are healthy.”
Duke Williams joined the Buffalo Bills last offseason and saw his role expand towards the end of the year. Last year, the Bills didn’t have much size at the position but Williams certainly provided that at 6’3″ and 225 pounds. He finished the year with 12 receptions for 166 yards and one touchdown.
In the final game of the regular season with the Bills resting a majority of their starters, Williams saw extended playing time and finished with his first career 100 yard receiving game. He continued to be a big part of this offense in their playoff game against the Houston Texans, finishing with 12 targets but only catching four of them for 49 yards.
Even with the strong finish, Williams is expected to be fighting for a roster spot with the Buffalo Bills adding Stefon Diggs and rookies Garbiel Davis and Isaiah Hodgins.
The other player added to the list, Vincent Taylor, has actually seen his chances of making the roster increase significantly with the news that Star Lotulelei would be opting out of the upcoming season.
The Bills have great depth at defensive tackle but Taylor is by far the biggest defensive tackle and can be that run stuffing tackle that Lotulelei was for this defense.
