Bills news this week: Training camp expected to open, new stadium name

Last week’s Monday Morning Charge touched on the possibility of the Bills’ stadium no longer being called “New Era Field”. In the days following, the Bills and New Era disbanded their stadium sponsorship deal, leaving the Bills’ stadium nameless.

The Bills-New Era stadium sponsorship deal was disbanded after an Erie County executive called for the Bills to step away from New Era. This, due to the fact that the New York-based company laid off a large number of employees at their Buffalo headquarters. New Era and the Bills agreed to a deal in 2016, replacing the name of Ralph Wilson on the stadium.

The Bills Mafia has come to the rescue on social media following the breakup. Fans on Twitter brainstormed who they think might be the best partner to step in and fill the space now to be left above the stadium. Though there were very fitting brands that were linked to the Bills such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Franks Red Hot and West Herr Automotive Group, a New York toilet company named Tushy released a statement announcing their interest in the possibility of securing the naming rights.

Though the partnership was shot down by the Bills the most notable aspect of Tushy’s pitch was the idea of bringing a college football bowl game to Orchard Park which was appropriately titled the “Toilet Bowl”.
