Allen all for table smashing

Leaping through tables has come to be one of the top things Bills fans are known for. Videos are seen all over social media on home gameday show fans jumping into sometimes flaming folding tables.

From the fan’s points of view, table diving is something uniquely Buffalo’s and sets the fan base apart from all the others in the NFL. Though, not all are supportive of the tailgating tradition as Andy Major, the Bills vice president of operations and guest experience told The Buffalo News in 2019 that “The viral videos on social media, it’s embarrassing when we see that,” he said. “It affects the community, affects the team negatively. We know our fans aren’t like that. That’s what’s disappointing for us,” he added.

The views of the front office are different than the players as Josh Allen, who appeared on Mark Sanchez‘s “4th and Forever” podcast said “I do not condone any of this table smashing in these videos,” Allen says with a smirk. “I’m legally obligated to say that, but it’s freaking awesome.”

Allen also disclosed that he is also no stranger to incorporating the table smashing into his autograph signing saying “You don’t understand how many… When I do autograph signings how many have to say, ‘Let’s smash some tables.'” Allen did explain why he said he can’t condone the behavior saying “We can’t condone this because it’s technically illegal now. They’re not allowing it because of violence and people hurting themselves.”
