Vosean Joseph

The next player who could compete for the role is Vosean Joseph, who was the Buffalo Bills fifth round pick last year. However, a shoulder injury suffered during the preseason forced him to miss his entire rookie season.

Joseph is probably the most athletic linebacker of the three options as he has remarkable quickness and an ability to get sideline to sideline. This ability allows him to stay with the quicker tight ends and running backs in pass coverage but also close on ball carriers in the run. This usually results in some highlight reel hits.

He does not have the size of Lorenzo Alexander to take on offensive linemen in rushing the quarterback but the coaching staff has shown an ability in being creative with the players they have. If Joseph were to win the job, it would make sense to see some more delayed blitzes that utilize Joseph’s speed and close on the quarterback.
