A.J. Klein

The player that is likely the favorite at this point in the offseason has to be A.J. Klein. The Buffalo Bills signed Klein as a free agent earlier in the year, after he spent the past three years with the New Orleans Saints.

However, prior to that he was with the Carolina Panthers and spent four years in Sean McDermott’s defense. During his time with the Panthers he was used as the primary backup to all three linebacker positions, and was the first player up to replace Luke Kuechly in the middle when he would miss time due to injuries.

Klein knows this defense very well and should hit the ground running. While he won’t have the pass rushing prowess that Alexander has, Klein is much better in pass coverage and should be an asset here. It wouldn’t be surprising if Klein wins the job that the Buffalo Bills don’t use the nickel as much in 2020 considering they don’t have that big nickel position solidified.
