Kyle Williams

Kyle Williams was a rare breed of athlete. He was drafted by the Bills in 2006 and played all 13 seasons of his NFL career in Buffalo. In that time, the defensive tackle was a six time Pro Bowler and accumulated a total of 48.5 sacks in his tenure with Buffalo.

Staying with one team your entire career is difficult enough. All time greats like Jerry Rice, Johnny Unitas and even more recently Tom Brady all left for greener pastures towards the end of their career. However, staying with one team through season after season of losses and missing the playoff takes a whole different type of integrity.

The greatest moments of his career are hard to count, but perhaps the best came on December 31, 2017. In the Bills’ final game of the season against the Dolphins, Williams lined up at fullback from the one yard line and ran for his first and only career touchdown.

That score put the Bills up 20-0 and helped the team secure a 9-7 record that season. Hours later, Williams watched with his family and fellow teammates as the Bengals defeated the Ravens, securing Buffalo’s first playoff spot since 1999.

Considering his stats and his long tenure with the team, do not be surprised if Kyle Williams’ name is mentioned for the Wall of Fame in the coming years.
