Buffalo Bills: 3 players who could have a breakout year in 2020

Ed Oliver was a monster in college. At Houston, the defensive lineman racked up just about every award you could think of and making first team All American each of his three seasons in college.

Oliver was drafted by the Bills in 2019 and was seen as one of the best defensive tackle prospects in football when he declared that he was going pro. He got off to a slow start in the early part of the 2019 seasons, but turned it on when it really mattered. Now going in to his second season, Oliver looks like he could be the best defensive lineman for the Bills since Bruce Smith, yes you read that correctly.

Last season, Oliver amassed five sacks in his rookie year as well as 38 total tackles. The Bills defensive line should be one of the best in the league this year. Oliver will get the opportunity to play alongside Mario Addison (acquired in free agency) as well as promising rookie A.J. Epenesa who was drafted last April out of Iowa.

It is not far fetched to say that Oliver could be a Pro Bowler this year, especially if he continues the pace that he set at the end of the 2020 season. However, if he wants to do that he’ll have to do that at a consistent level throughout the season.

Bills fans everywhere have their fingers crossed that Oliver will not go through a sophomore slump.
