The offseason rankings continue and Chris Simms recently ranked Josh Allen 18th in the NFL.

Chris Simms has been putting together his list of Top 40 quarterbacks in the NFL, revealing it in pieces, and today announced that he has Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen 18th in the NFL.

As Simms notes, the stats don’t tell the full story when it comes to Josh Allen. The third-year quarterback, is able to do so much with his feet that it puts additional pressure on the opposing defense because not only do they have to account for the receivers on passing plays but needs to have an eye in the backfield if Allen starts to scramble.

While Simms does note that he is raw and there is room for improvement, this ranking feels much more in line with where he should be within the league. These rankings for Josh Allen seem to be all over the board from him being a darkhorse candidate for MVP to the other end of the spectrum where the Buffalo Bills QB room was ranked 28th in the NFL.

It was interesting to see Chris Simms mention when talking about Josh Allen his arm movement and he would like to see that be worked on. This was something that Allen mentioned recently during a call with media and was something he worked on this offseason after having a conversation with Tony Romo at the Super Bowl.

The company that surrounds Josh Allen makes sense and he is just ahead of Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo, who ranked 19th and 20th respectively. The surprising names, and this usually not the case, but Josh Allen is ahead of Cleveland Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield and New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. These were the two quarterbacks who went ahead of Josh Allen in the 2018 NFL Draft.
