Buffalo Bills win AFC East…but it will be close

At this point in the offseason, the Buffalo Bills have arguably the most complete roster of any team in the AFC East. They have a group of players and coaches that for the most part have kept the core pieces in place for a few years now. That familiarity will be critical in an offseason that is vastly different than year’s past.

However, if the Buffalo Bills win the division, which would be the first time since 1995, it likely will not be a run away. The race for the division is probably going to run over the course of the entire year, especially for the Bills with games against the Patriots and Dolphins in Week 16 and Week 17 respectively.

The New York Jets made some moves that should make Sam Darnold’s job a little easier on the offensive side of the ball and should help this offense take that next step. The Miami Dolphins were very active in both free agency and the NFL Draft and elevated the talent across almost every level of this team.

As for the New England Patriots, while they did lose Tom Brady they still have one of the best defenses in the league. That is certainly not going away anytime soon and will keep them in most games. The fact that they have this defense along with a coach like Bill Belichick, it is not wise to write them off.

Based on the changes this offseason that all four teams in the AFC East have made, this feels like they are all entering on a level playing ground. This is why it is going to be a competitive race but the experience and familiarity that the Bills have with their core group of players should be enough to help them take the AFC East in 2020.
