Buffalo Bills: Early look at position needs for 2021 offseason
Guard/Tackle
These two positions were grouped together because there are a number of players that could dictate what the Buffalo Bills have to do at these two positions. The player that will have the most impact is Cody Ford, who is expected to be the team’s starting right tackle this upcoming season.
However, a case could be made that he is a better fit at right guard and he could step into the starting right guard position if Jon Feliciano leaves in free agency. If that is the path the coaching staff elects to go then the right tackle position becomes a need.
If Ford plays well this upcoming season and secures the right tackle job, and Feliciano leaves, then right guard will become a need.
The biggest question mark though would be at left tackle if the team is not able to agree to a new deal with left tackle Dion Dawkins. The left tackle is one of the most important positions on the football field as it is responsible for protecting the blindside of the quarterback. Dawkins had a good season for the Bills last year and certainly could be the long term answer at the position.
The problem is that since it is a premium position, it also usually comes with a premium price tag, and if the Buffalo Bills can’t afford Dawkins then left tackle will be the biggest need for this team next offseason.
