Have we seen the last of Stephen Hauschka?

Drafting a kicker is a move that is always talked about. Fans are either for it, or against it. In the case of selecting Tyler Bass, most fans seem to welcome the pick.

Last season, Stephen Hauschka manned the kicking for the Buffalo Bills. Though he earned his nickname “Hauschmoney” for his clutch performance and consistency while he was with the Seattle Seahawks, his tenure with the Bills has been anything but. When he was with the Seahawks, his field goal percentage was constant. Recording a percentage of high 80’s and low 90’s he was as consistent as they come. Though in his past two seasons, he has since dropped below those numbers. Hauschka recorded a field-goal percentage of 78.6% the past two seasons and went 5 of 12 from 50-yards plus.

By adding Tyler Bass, the Buffalo Bills secured the predecessor to Hauschka. Bass has shown at the collegiate level along with a viral video that showed him knocking one down with one foot, that he as the power than Hauschka has lost.

Though it is uncertain how things will shake up when it comes time to trim down to the 53 man roster, we could have seen the last of Hauschka as the Buffalo Bills have the option to get out of Hauschka’s contract with minimal dead cap if they chose to go with the rookie Bass heading into the regular season.
