Week 2 – Cody Ford vs. Shaq Lawson / Stefon Diggs vs. Byron Jones

In Week 2 the Bills face off against a second straight divisional opponent in the Miami Dolphins, this time on the road at Miami. The most interesting storyline to watch will be defensive end Shaq Lawson coming up against his former team after being acquired by the Dolphins in free agency.

During his time in Buffalo, Lawson showed his efficiency in run stopping and play disruption more than a knack for pass rushing and pure sack production. However, after practicing against the Bills the last few years, it would be foolish to assume that Lawson won’t have a bit of an edge in the matchup. It is still unclear exactly where Lawson will line up for the Dolphins. If going against second-year tackle Cody Ford, expect Lawson to test Ford’s deficiencies in pass blocking that he showed during his rookie year.

Secondly and more obviously, look to see how the new Bills receiver room matches up against the upgraded secondary of the Dolphins. With the Bills adding Diggs to the already productive receiver group and the Dolphins adding Byron Jones with the talented Xavien Howard, it should be difficult for the Bills passing attack to be productive in this matchup. Expect Devin Singletary and Zack Moss to have play a big role in this game if the Bills want to come out with the victory.
