Buffalo Bills: 3 biggest trap games for the upcoming season

Week 5 at Tennessee Titans

The first trap game of the year comes in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans in Nashville. I don’t think that many people expected the Titans to get to where they did last season. All the way to the AFC Championship against the Chiefs and put up a good fight too, losing to the eventual Super Bowl Champs. Keep in mind that Ryan Tannehill did not start until Week 7 because the Titans brass had to do their due diligence and see what Marcus Mariota could do. Which in turn was not much and therefore the change at quarterback was made.

These two teams are playing in a Week 5 contest for an unprecedented fourth time, when it comes to consecutive head to head meetings, and the Bills took last season’s game 14-7. Not much was produced on offense, but it was a great defensive showing put forth by both teams who combined for a total of nine sacks.

The Bills only got better on defense in the offseason signing players like Josh Norman, A.J. Klein, and Mario Addison. When you look at who is at the center of the Titans offense, it is obvious that it revolves around monster running back Derrick Henry and big bodied wide receiver AJ Brown. So it will be interesting to see if the new additions on defense can step up and help repeat last season’s performance. The Titans made it to the AFC Championship game for a reason, so the Bills cannot look at this as an easy matchup even though they have won the last 3 meetings against them.

There is a lot to be expected from the Bills this season because they are a team who have showed promise and have been successful since the arrival of head coach Sean McDermott. After their game against Tennessee, there will be a huge test of maturity of this team with a Thursday Night game against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs at Orchard Park. It’s one thing to play in primetime against an A-list team. It’s another thing to play them on a short week after a road game in Nashville, even with the recent success Buffalo has had against them. It is difficult to fault the Buffalo Bills in looking ahead when you have that kind of caliber of a team heading your way.
