2004 NFL Draft – J.P. Losman (22nd overall)

The Buffalo Bills were desperate to find a quarterback that could be a long term answer, something they hadn’t had since the days of Jim Kelly. After selecting Lee Evans earlier in this NFL Draft, the Bills traded back up into the first to select J.P. Losman out of Tulane.

He was actually the fourth quarterback taken this round that also included Eli Manning, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger.

Losman didn’t have the same success as the other three quarterbacks with a career record of 10-23. He finished with 6,211 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and 34 interceptions.

Losman played five years with the Bills and spent one season with the Oakland Raiders and one with the Miami Dolphins before finding some success in the UFL.

Players the Bills could have picked instead: Steven Jackson (RB), Karlos Dansby (LB), Chris Snee (G), Jared Allen (DE)
