2002 NFL Draft – Mike Williams (4th overall)

The Buffalo Bills entered the 2002 NFL Draft with the fourth overall pick and elected to go with offensive tackle Mike Williams out Texas. Williams was a massive tackle at 6’7″ and 337 pounds but also was a massive bust.

He started out playing right tackle for the first two years of his career, and started 27 games over that span. He was then moved to left tackle at the start of the 2004 season, starting 15 games, but his performance was subpar.

The team moved him inside to guard the following season but he didn’t work there either and the team released him following 2006.

The top of this draft wasn’t pretty and Williams joined a lackluster group outside of Julius Peppers, that went second overall, that included David Carr to the Houston Texans first overall and Joey Harrington to the Detroit Lions at pick 3.

Players the Bills could have picked instead: Bryant McKinnie (T), Dwight Freeney (DE), Ed Reed (S)
