Week 3: vs. Cincinnati Bengals

There is a good chance that the Buffalo Bills can accomplish something this season that they have not been able to do since 2011, which is start the year 3-0. The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off a 6-10 season and said goodbye to long-time coach Marvin Lewis.

They elected to bring in first time head coach Zac Taylor, who was the Rams’ quarterback coach last season. However, this team doesn’t have tremendous talent and it should be a tough first season for Taylor. The good news for the Bills is they will likely also avoid A.J. Green, who is still in a walking boot.

This game is the Bills’ home opener and if they come in 2-0, the fans will make their presence known.

Prediction: Win (3-0)

Week 4: vs. New England Patriots

The Buffalo Bills first real test of the season, and help determine if they really should really be having the discussion about playoffs, comes Week 4 against the New England Patriots. This is a rivalry that has not been much of a rivalry as the Patriots have won almost every contest for nearly two decades.

However, there could be a changing of the guard as Tom Brady gets older, there is no more Rob Gronkowski and there is serious questions about his wide receivers. While all signs point to an upset, it is hard to predict the Bills win this one until they prove on a consistent basis they can be competitive against the Patriots.

Prediction: Loss (3-1)

Week 5: at Tennessee Titans

After the Patriots game, the Bills travel south to face the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are coming off a 9-7 season thanks in part to a strong defense and a top-tier run game.

The question here is who will be under center for the Titans. The second overall pick from 2015, Marcus Mariota, has not lived up to expectations and the team did bring in Ryan Tannehill this offseason. If Mariota struggles it would not be surprising to see them make the switch to Tannehill before this game.

This is one game that should be a low scoring affair but the Bills get the nod here since they have just a little more talent on offense.

Prediction: (4-1)

Week 6: Bye

Week 7: vs. Miami Dolphins

The Bills return to New Era Field for their first game after their bye to face division rival Miami Dolphins. There is no question by the recent moves that this is a team that is in full blown rebuild mode. They traded away a number of their starters this past week, including Laremy Tunsil, Kenny Stills and Kiko Alonso, and added a number of draft picks in the process

At this point in the season it would be surprising if Ryan Fitzpatrick is under center since they traded for Josh Rosen in the offseason. If this is a lost season for this team, they will likely want to find out what Rosen is capable of. This should work in the Bills favor and secure a win.

Prediction: Win (5-1)
