Week 1: at New York Jets

The Buffalo Bills open the season, traveling outside the state of New York, against a team in a very similar situation. The New York Jets went through a number of changes this offseason starting at head coach by replacing Todd Bowles with Adam Gase.

They also had significant amount of cap space but went with a different strategy than the Bills by signing top free agents like Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley. In addition to all the new faces for both teams, each have a second year quarterback they are hoping to take that next step, with Josh Allen in Buffalo and Sam Darnold in New York.

This is going to be a close game and the Buffalo Bills start the season with a win thanks in large part to the familiarity the team has with Sean McDermott and the system in Buffalo.

Prediction: Win (1-0)

Week 2: at New York Giants

After traveling to MetLife Stadium for the first game of the season, Buffalo turns around to return to New Jersey to play the other New York team. The Giants lost a number of key players this offseason including Odell Beckham Jr. and Landon Collins and are a team that will likely be in rebuild mode.

However, they still have one of the best running backs in the game, Saquon Barkley. He is a player that can take over a game almost by himself and the defense must contain him. They should be up to the task and with the Giants defense not as imposing as in year’s past, this should be a good game for the Bills’ offense to get on track.

Prediction: Win (2-0)
