Duke Williams earns roster spot and moves up depth chart

The top of the wide receiver depth chart seems pretty set with Zay Jones, John Brown, Cole Beasley and Robert Foster. However, the competition for the final one or two spots should be interesting throughout the course of training camp.

One player who will likely not only grab one of those spots but move up the depth chart will be Duke Williams. The path to the NFL for Williams has been a long and winding road that included being kicked off Auburn’s football team after an incident at an Auburn bar.

After being kicked off of Auburn’s team, Williams went undrafted before signing with the LA Rams. However, he was cut before making the final roster and headed north to the CFL. As a member of the Edmonton Eskimos, he was named to the All-Star team in his second year with the team after leading the league in receiving with 88 receptions, 1,579 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

At 6’3″ and 225 pounds, Williams is the biggest wide receiver the team has on the roster and could find himself being heavily targeted in the red zone. This type of receiver to compliment the speed that Brown and Foster brings, makes this a well rounded position group for the Buffalo Bills.
