2019 Buffalo Bills Roster Outlook: The running backs
With the 2018 season in the books, we will begin to take a look at how the roster will shape out in 2019. Seeing where the team came from at each position to where they could be going can provide insight for the team’s success moving forward.
The running backs were one of the most disappointing position groups for the Buffalo Bills in 2018. Buffalo saw one of the league’s best rushing attacks over the past several seasons severely underperform.
This has left numerous question marks for the 2019 season.
The biggest disappointment falls at the feet of veteran LeSean McCoy as the now 30-year-old running back has fallen from one of the NFL’s elite at his position to an average player at best. He has lost his burst and agility, but not all of the blame can be put on him.
There is no question that Buffalo has one of the weakest offensive lines in the league. Losing Cordy Glenn, Richie Incognito and Eric Wood hurt more than it appears anyone could have imagined. As a group, the line took a major step backward as they were unable pull and get out on blocks as they did in the past.
As a whole, the running back position needs to see some major changes in order to help Josh Allen grow and bring balance to the offense. Youth and fresh blood are needed in the backfield for the Bills, and here is how they can do it.
