HB LeSean McCoy was one of the two Bills’ players selected to the 2016 Pro Bowl, but chose to sit out.

You simply can’t put together a list of the league’s top running backs without putting LeSean McCoy near the top. If you were to ask him, he wouldn’t hesitate to say he’s the No. 1 back in the league — he said so on SportsCenter.

Injuries in 2015 limited his campaign and the numbers didn’t quite meet Shady McCoy’s expectations. He bounced back better than ever in 2016 and put together a 1,267 yard, 13-touchdown season — leading the way for the league’s top rushing attack.

The incredible season included helping the team break a franchise record for most rushing touchdowns in a season (29), as well as four multi-touchdown games, 7 games over 100 yards — two of which over 150 yards — and losing no fumbles in the process.

I wouldn’t hesitate to expect more of the same this season. With an improved offensive line and a new offense that will feature a lot of zone runs, McCoy will have another season filled with making defenders miss and eventually crossing over into the endzone.

The Buffalo Bills did extremely well in zone runs last season. According to Pro Football Focus, the Bills had 30 attempts in an outside zone run and averaged 5.73 yards per carry. As far as the inside zone goes, they ran the ball 97 times with a 5.38 yards per carry average.

They led the league in both categories.
