Buffalo Bills’ owner Terry Pegula and head coach Sean McDermott had some interesting things to say at the annual NFL owners meetings.

The Oakland Raiders are packing up to move over to Sin City. NFL owners voted on the move earlier this week and it overwhelmingly passed 31-1, the 1 opposed vote belongs to the Miami Dolphins ownership.

Thankfully, Terry Pegula and his family saved the Bills from shipping out of the city that lives, breathes and dies Buffalo Bills football.

Terry Pegula addressed the media during the owners meetings in Arizona. Pegula expressed that he is not worried about a new stadium being built in Buffalo as of now, but more focused on the upcoming season at hand.

Terry is right by saying that on-field success should be sought after before asking the taxpayers and the city of Buffalo for help with funding. New Era Field is going to be the fourth oldest stadium in the NFL after the Raiders move to Vegas. The lack of consistent upkeep and renovations will make it the most outdated. A new stadium will be inevitable in the upcoming years.

The Buffalo Bills have a lease with New Era Field up until 2023, so a new stadium isn’t an immediate need, but it will grow to be a topic of discussion as we move closer to the end of the lease.

Head coach Sean McDermott also stepped in front of the microphone this week and a few things stood out. Coach McDermott had extremely high praise for linebacker Reggie Ragland, naming him the starter going into camp. Comparing Ragland to Luke Kuechly and Jeremiah Trotter says a lot about what McDermott thinks of him.

Ragland is seen as a leader on the field and believed to have the ability to set up the proper defense and make the right calls, all without playing a single down of professional football. Still coming off an ACL injury suffered in training camp last year, Ragland will have a lot to prove to his new head coach.

Sammy Watkins was a topic of discussion as well. According to McDermott, Watkins is on schedule and hitting rehab hard on his lingering foot injury. McDermott also is on record for saying that he believes the teams number 2 receiver is already on the roster.

The smokescreen is still in full effect for the Bills’ front office. Pegula, Whaley and McDermott all confirmed that the relationship between coach and GM is absolutely fine. Speculation remains going forward on who controls what such as the 53-man roster.

It looks like much control is in McDermott’s hands, keeping Whaley from being privy in decisions made.

With the NFL draft only a few weeks away, what the Buffalo Bills will do with the 10th overall pick remains up for discussion, much like who will make the final decision on draft selections.

Like many times before with this team, it’s all up in the air for the Buffalo Bills.
