Buffalo Bills: New Additions at WR Will Help Tyrod Taylor Succeed in 2017

WR Corey Washington

Corey Washington recently joined the Buffalo Bills‘ receiving core as the fourth free agent addition at the position. The terms to his contract have yet to be announced, but I would imagine it to be for the league minimum.

Washington will likely be one of the receivers that don’t see a lot of time on the field, unless injuries arise. With that being said, he will be fighting for a roster spot this offseason. Fortunately for him, the Bills’ receiving crew doesn’t have a lot of proven talent and he will join everyone else in the fight for a spot.

Corey Washington went undrafted in 2014, but would later sign as a free agent with the Arizona Cardinals. After being claimed off waivers by the New York Giants and having an impressive 2014 preseason, he cracked the 53-man roster. Playing in 14 games his rookie year, Washington finished with just 5 catches, 52 yards and one touchdown.

Most of his contributions came on special teams.

Since then, Washington hasn’t found a spot on a roster and hasn’t had any regular season experience other than in 2014. He does, however, have history with Buffalo, having spent nearly three weeks on the team’s practice squad last season.

His size will be the best feature with Corey Washington, listed at 6’4” and 214 pounds. He could find a spot on the roster as a red-zone target — especially with Justin Hunter joining the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. If he can show chemistry with Tyrod Taylor early on, there’s a chance he sees some playing time this season.
