Bills vs. Bengals QB and WR Fantasy Football Advice & Predictions

Last week, Tyrod Taylor and Robert Woods helped put together the Bills most complete performance in the passing game this year. Taylor completed 27 passes on 38 attempts for 289 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He had better stats against the Jets earlier in the year, but a good chunk of his yards came on an 84-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Goodwin in that game.

Against a tough Seahawks defense on Monday Night Football, Taylor showed some of his potential and upped his chances of having the Bills pick up the option on his contract. Robert Woods had one heck of a game too putting up career high’s in both receptions (10) and yards (162).

So will we see THAT Bills passing attack this week or will we see the team that is currently second to last in average passing yards per game in the league? The answer lies in between.

The case for Taylor and the Bills having a better game this week is that the Seahawks have one of the best defenses in the league and one of the toughest secondaries to play against. The Bills will have a much easier test this week against the Bengals defense and secondary.

Buffalo will also get a boost from Percy Harvin who is reportedly ready to take on a bigger role in the offense after being on the team for a couple of weeks and finally getting his legs underneath him. If he can rekindle some of that old chemistry he had with Taylor, the Bills might be able to find a consistent rhythm in the passing game.

The case against the Bills passing game this week is that the Bills are a run-first offense and in their best passing game of the season last week they only managed 289 yards. It was an improvement but this passing game has many issues including not getting the ball to Charles Clay enough.

Against the Bengals this week my predictions are that Taylor ends up with about 240 yards passing and 40 yards rushing with two touchdowns between the air and ground. Robert Woods will have roughly 80 yards receiving and Percy Harvin around 60. Charles Clay will continue to be ignored by Tyrod Taylor and will only have about 30 receiving yards.

Cincinnati, on the other hand, averages the 10th most passing yards per game in the league. Most of that production comes through A.J. Green who has 964 yards receiving which is second most in the NFL.

He’s one of the elite receivers in the league and is known for making big plays down the field. He has the third most catches this season of over 20 yards. Unfortunately for Buffalo fans, the Bills struggle giving up the big play so expect Green to break off at least one on Sunday. Green is due for a huge game against a Bills secondary that has struggled most of the year.

The rest of the Bengals receivers don’t merit a start in fantasy football but their tight end Tyler Eifert could end up having a nice day. He had close to 100 yards in each of the past two games and the Bills have not done well covering taller targets. At 6’6″ he will most likely be covered by Kevon Seymour who is 6’0″ and Nickell Robey-Coleman who is just 5’8″. Eifert will have a big advantage over each when they line up against one another.

My predictions for the Bengals are that Andy Dalton should be able to put up around 300 yards on the Bills defense with a pair of touchdowns. Green will go over 100 yards Sunday afternoon while Eifert will end up with 80 yards and a touchdown. The remainder of the Bengals receivers which includes Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd will all be in the 40 yards or under yardage category.
